Journalists to go on strike on June 28

Journalists unions under the banner of All India Newspaper Employees Federation (AINEF) are all set to go on strike over the delay in the implementation of the Majithia Wageboard Commission Report on June 28, 2011.

Protests will be organised at major cities across the country according to AINEF sources.

The federation is “protesting against the delay” by the government and alleged “false campaign” by Indian Newspapers Society about the panel’s recommendation.

Will it make a difference?

I do not think so. If the country goes without newspaper for a day or two then there may be some

Looks like there won't be much impact as the big newspapers must have bribed the ministers ;-) Life is a struggle.

The strike in Chennai was moderate. Around 150 journalist and non-journalist staff of various media organisations and unions staged a demonstration here on Tuesday, demanding immediate notification of Justice Majithia Wage Board recommendations.

The Hindu employees were prominently visible
